The Last Heavyweight Champion By Taylor Hallman

The left hook appeared out of nowhere.

Everyone knows it’s the one you don’t see that can get you. That applies to life as well as boxing. But who would have thought that hook would be aliens showing up on the White House lawn

I was almost finished with my road work when they appeared.  I was in the middle of my last sprint and was approaching Aaron Davis' Boxing gym for some work on the heavy bag, but there was a tremendous, earth-shaking boom over head.  I looked up to see dozens of huge flying saucers popping into existence.  Within moments the sky was filled with these ominous vehicles.  Except for the rattling of the #6 train entering the Westchester Square station, it was eerily quiet.  But soon people came pouring out of the stores and apartment buildings to watch as they streamed over - flying saucer after flying saucer.  Okay, they weren’t really saucers - more like elongated rectangular shapes with odd asymmetrical protrusions, but they were from the stars.

Huge and menacing they came in out of the morning sun.  The ultimate in hooks. Westchester Square soon buzzed with voices.  We stood and watched.  What else could you do?
